TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (FTN) – Are toddlers being forced to grow up too quickly? That is what one local dad is saying after he was forced to watch his son give up a piece of his childhood.
Chris Essex is the father of three-year-old Alex. He told the moment that left a mark on him happened on Thursday during lunch.
“So I went to cook Alex a grilled cheese, we were all out of cheese, so I went for the Dino nuggets. We were out of Dino nuggets. All we had were chicken fries, made for adults,” Chris said.
Chris told us it made him sad to have to watch his son give up a piece of his innocence to eat the chicken fries.
“It hurts, you know? No toddler should have to go through something like that. You can’t make a chicken fry roar…you can’t eat their legs off,” Chris said.
Alex acted like he didn’t notice the difference.
“Put it in ketchup,” Alex said, as he gave the chicken fry a kiss.
“I think he is just trying to be tough, act like it doesn’t bother him…but I know he is just putting on an act,” Chris said.
It’s unclear if the chicken fries were an intentional purchase, or if Alex’s parents bought them on accident thinking they were the Dino nuggets.
