TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (FTN) – A Vigo County dad said he accidentally scarred his three-year-old son after watching a scene from Back to the Future 3.
It happened on Monday morning in their Terre Haute home on the county’s south side.
Alex Essex’s dad Chris told FTN the three-year-old loves trains, saying the ‘Choo Choo’ phase is going on over a year.
Chris said he wanted to show Alex the flying train at the end of the popular movie Back to the Future 3.
“Before the flying train scene was the 1855 train scene, with the DeLorean on the tracks being pushed by the train. That part was fine. It’s how that particular scene ended that truly shook Alex,” Chris told us.
That scene ends with Marty successfully reaching 88 mph, while the train crashes into Clayton (Shonash) Ravine.
Chris said the train crashing off of the unfinished bridge made Alex very upset.
“He cried. I was like…crap. Honestly, I didn’t even think about that. I felt bad,” Chris told us.
“Bridge fall down, Train falled down broken bridge,” Alex said when we asked him about it. Right after that, he started talking about the flying train at the end.
“Train was flying so high in the sky off the of the tracks. Bridge fall down,” Alex said.
Chris told us he would probably hold off on showing him back to the future for a couple of more years.
“With the mom trying to hook up with his kid, and Biff, or Mad Dog, always going into poop…we will hold off for now,” Chris told us.
He said it remains one of his favorite series of movies of all time.
