TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (FTN) – A pair of Terre Haute parents were forced to scramble when their three-year-old bolted down an aisle of fragile items at a Vigo County store.
It happened on Thursday when Chris and Ami Essex took Alex to Kohl’s to return an item.
As the family walked toward the exit, Alex reportedly took off down an aisle of picture frames and fragile kitchen ware.
“We were looking at some pillows. Both Chris and I were checking them out when he ran. We both had to scramble,” Ami said.
Parents say during this particular trip top the store, Alex kept his hand out to touch clothes as he walked by.
“He’s very curious right now. Touching everything…so when he booed down that fragile aisle…we freaked out. I’m pretty sure he knew what he was doing. He had that devious laugh as he bolted,” Chris said.
Luckily, Alex was not able to break anything. But the parents say they remained on high alert for the remainder of the trip.
“It was kind of like secret service for the fragile items. Standing watch for the picture frames. Keeping the wirey three-year-old from crossing the barrier. He did try, and he was detained,” Chris said.
Parents were able to exit the store without incident.
