TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (KNN) – A Vigo County four-year-old has made an odd demand, as he wants to toys hidden in a cabinet with the food.
Parents Chris and Ami Essex say their son Alex demanded a Little People brand ostrich and a homemade Toodles from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse go into hiding.
“The ostrich has been going on for a while. He wanted that one hidden. The Toodles is a more recent development,” Chris said.
Alex reportedly insists the two toys be hidden in a specific cabinet, and gets upset if his parents move them.
They aren’t sure what led to either one of those toys scaring him, but Chris says he has a theory about Toodles.
“So, Ami made him a couple of homemade ones. She printed him out and cut it into a piece of cardboard, and glued the face on. The first one’s ear came off…the second one he threw in a splash table at his mamaw’s house. I think he believes Toodles is mad at him,” Chris said.
The Toodles that went into the water was destroyed, but over the weekend, Chris created four different Toodles cutouts, so if Alex destroyed one, another would be waiting in the wings.
“I hid it in a fun way, but Alex was not about it. As soon as he saw it, he wanted it hidden in the cabinet. As for the ostrich, I have no idea what’s going on there,” Chris said.
Parents will continue to keep the Mickey Mouse mascot and the Little People toy hiding, saying it gives them a smile every time they open the cabinet.
“If we leave it open, he closes it. Yes, it is an upper-level cabinet…and yes, at four he can reach it to close it,” Ami told us.
